Autumn 2012 is a significant time for the Alhambra Theatre, as it marks 90 years since the opening of Dunfermline and Fife’s biggest and grandest theatre. The theatre was built to satisfy the huge demand for live entertainment at the time, and featured a diverse array of shows and acts playing to packed houses. A lot has changed since then, with the increased popularity of cinema and bingo leading to a change in use for the building for over 70 years, but live theatre is back, and here to stay!
Our Autumn/Winter line-up is undoubtedly our strongest yet, with some of the biggest names in musicals, comedy and rock coming to Dunfermline. Perhaps biggest of all is Kevin Bridges, undoubtedly the hottest name in comedy right now and our fastest selling show ever. His record-breaking five night run begins on 2nd December, and event that has been eagerly awaited by nearly 7000 ticket holders for almost a year.
The Christmas season continues in some style, with West End smash Chicago The Musical bringing some razzle dazzle to the Alhambra. The international award winning musical stars Ali Bastian as Roxie Hart and Eastenders’ Stefan Booth as Billy Flynn.
Following the outstanding success of last years ‘Aladdin’, the Alhambra panto continues to go from strength to strength. This year it’s ‘Cinderella’ starring Still Game’s ‘Isa’ Jane McCarry and all the returning favourites from last year, including Emma Beard, and CBBC’s ‘Raven’ James MacKenzie. Cinderella will continue our quest to create a panto for Fife on the same scale as Edinburgh or Glasgow’s big city pantos. A spectacular set, great songs and a bellyful of laughs await.
As if that wasn’t enough, we also have big names like The Kaiser Chiefs, Peter Andre, The Proclaimers, Sally Morgan, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Jason Manford and many, many more to come. There’s something for everyone at Fife’s Premier Theatre – don’t miss out!
