alhambra 2 bursts into life

Every once in a while, a band comes along that inspire an almost fanatical devotion amongst their fans, which is closer perhaps to that of a football team than a group of musicians. Rarer still is the band that is able to achieve this whilst remaining, rightly or wrongly, unsigned. Rosyth’s The Draymin belong to that extraordinary group of artists whose success cannot be measured in album sales, chart placing or sold-out tours, but in the loyalty and support of the hardy souls who have followed them around the country over the last four years, from pub, to support gig, and finally to the Alhambra, where a staggering 1300 people turned up to pay their respects on the occasion of their last ever show.

It is testament, not only to The Draymin and their equally able supporting cast of Beatnic Prestige, The Skinflints, Val Verde and Modern Faces, but also to the music community of West Fife that 1300 people turned out to see 5 unsigned acts. The mutual respect and warmth between bands and audience was obvious to see, and leant an air of intimacy to what was undoubtedly the biggest show of each bands career. The Draymin’s guitarist Craig said - “To have so many people there to see a bunch of unsigned bands was amazing and I have to thank all at the venue for putting in effort to make it a brilliant night.”

Promoter Billy George added – “I think it was a tremendous success. We had a crowd of 1300 plus who were very well behaved and created an atmosphere Dunfermline hasn't seen for many years. I thought all the bands played great sets and were very well received...although the night certainly belonged to The Draymin who were given a send off they're never likely to forget. The feedback we had from the bands was also very positive and we received some great messages of thanks from the bands who enjoyed the experience of playing on such a large stage in a brilliant venue. “

The Alhambra Theatre would like to thank all the bands that played on the night, and promoter Billy George and his team whose hard work ensured that the launch of Alhambra 2 was a huge success and a memorable night for music in Fife.
