It is now one year since over 300 local performers sang on the opening night of ‘Alhambra Alive’, with West End star Jeff Leyton; a moment which hailed the beginning of a series of ‘In the Raw’ events, featuring such internationally acclaimed artists as KT Tunstall and Nazareth.

Since that night an extraordinary amount of hard work has gone in to revitalising the theatre and establishing the Alhambra once again as one of Scotland’s premier entertainment venues. The extraordinary results could never have been achieved without the support and involvement of the public, who have shown a very real desire to see the Alhambra Theatre flourish once again.

It is with this incredible support in mind that we launch our ‘Friends of the Alhambra’ scheme on 20th December, during the fabulous Broadway Swings event, featuring a performance by the sensational Razz Big Band and a return to the Alhambra stage, one year on, of Jeff Leyton - neatly book-ending an emotional year for all those involved with the Alhambra project.

The launch of ‘Friends of the Alhambra’ provides a perfect opportunity for the public to continue to play a crucial part in the next stage of growth and help to cultivate a unique bond between community and theatre.

Alhambra Steering Committee Chairman David Mutch said “This has been an exciting time for us all and yet this is only the very beginning! The next 12 months will see significant developments at the Alhambra, with even bigger artists playing, as well as exciting opportunity for up and coming artists to play with the launch of Alhambra 2”.

For a joining fee of £20 for a single and £35 for a joint membership you will receive:
